Airsoft Softwair are very proud to annouce the immediate availability of Hollywood 4.5 (Codename: Snowflake). This is a huge update which brings along many new features and general improvements over Hollywood 4.0. In this update we paid special attention to all the wishes that reached us from the ever growing Hollywood community. We carefully listened to all these requests and tried to realize as many wishes as possible.

Hollywood 4.5 is undoubtedly the most advanced Amiga multimedia application. It is highly stable, extremely easy to use and flexible, and enjoyed by many happy Amiga users around the globe. Furthermore, professional commercial companies like Ferrule Media are highly successful thanks to Hollywood's multimedia power. The best pro Hollywood argument is of course that it is available in native versions for 8 (eight) different platforms: AmigaOS3, AmigaOS4, WarpOS, MorphOS, AROS (x86), Windows (x86), Mac OS X (PPC), Mac OS X (x86).

Among the countless new features in Hollywood 4.5 is the ability to open multiple windows with Hollywood (scripts are no longer limited to a single window!), fonts can be embedded into executables (it's no longer necessary to install them first), windows can use alpha channel transparency, hardware accelerated transition effects (only on AmigaOS 4.1 and MorphOS 2), full clipboard support, load and save GIF animations, save AVI videos, drag'n'drop support, and much much more.

Here is a non-exhaustive list of new features in Hollywood 4.5:

* Support for unlimited displays
* Fonts can be linked into executables
* Displays can use alpha-channel transparency
* Hardware accelerated transition effects
* Display manager completely rewritten - much more flexible now!
* Resource monitor to track script's memory usage
* Extremely easy access to the clipboard (text, images)
* GIF anim support: Load and save GIF anims now!
* Access to AVI video stream renderer from Hollywood
* Seamless FX seeking: all fx can now be transformed on-the-fly
* Layers system greatly extended
* Support for animations with alpha channel
* Drag'n'drop support
* New offscreen drawing modes for anims and images
* User-definable drag and size regions
* Full-screen/windowed switching now possible from script API
* New OS exclusive functions (access icon tooltypes on AmigaOS, or the registry on windows)
* Support for matrix transformations on layers and brushes
* 64-bit and CMYK images now fully supported (incl. 16-bit alpha channel)
* Support for layer clip regions
* Possibility to open URLs from Hollywood
* Support for saving 24bit IFF ILBM images
* Successfully tested on Snow Leopard and Windows 7!
* More than 250kb of new documentation
* 10 new example scripts (over 70 in total)
* Standard library set encompasses over 470 functions now!
* Lots of other changes, optimizations and bug fixes
* Ready for X!

Hollywood is the ultimate bridge between all the different AmigaOS compatible platforms and the other two modern desktop systems, Windows and Mac OS! With Hollywood, you can save programs for all those platforms. You do not have to have AmigaOS4 or AROS, you can save programs for these platforms also from your AmigaOS3 installation! You do not need to have Mac OS X, you can still compile your programs for it using your AmigaOS or MorphOS installation. Only Hollywood makes it possible.

All this makes Hollywood The Cross-Platform Multimedia Application Layer. Join the Multimedia revolution and get your personal copy of Hollywood 4.5 now!

Please visit the Airsoft Softwair homepage for much more information on Hollywood and screenshots.

 Re: Hollywood 4.5 out now
Can it be used as a video editing software like on pc's. For example load several avi/mp4 etc and have a timeline. Put some music over it. Effects etc ?

Making own music videos, when someone marries and want to make a dvd with photos and video with subtitles effects etc.

First of all I want to congratulate Andreas and Airsoft Softwair with the release of Hollywood 4.5

We (Ferrule Media) have been allowed to use v. 4.5 for some time developing our latest software. It feels great to be able to use Amigas to develop commercial software!

I can assure you that Hollywood is getting better and better by each relase - Andreas Falkenhahn is truely an amazing coder!

hehe.. it seems that alot of great stuff is happening in the amigascene these days!

I do hope alot of os4 /morphOS users buys this software and take part of the great Hollywood community !

 Re: Hollywood 4.5 out now
One of the real benefits of using Hollywood is the feature that makes it possible to save executables for several platforms.

When it comes to our infochannel Dental Kanal we are able send demos of the product as either windows or mac-executables. The real product however is sold with a SAM 440ep 667mhz running os4.1.

The presentation is running in the resolution 1366x768. Since we use hardware-accelerated crossfade-effects it does need alot of gfx-memory ? the sam has got 64mb gfx-mem.

For people lucky enough to own os4 I have uploaded a few example executables of the os4-version. This is ment as an example of what is possible with Hollywood 4.5. On our homepage you will also be able to download pc/mac-versions so that you may compare the different versions.

The presentations may be paused using ?space? and moved forward/backward using the left or right arrow-key

Dental Kanal main-demo OS4 ? a complete demo showing 2 topics aswell as some fullscreen photos and some fun-stuff.

Dental Kanal Demo 1 OS4

(for pc/mac demos check our homepage )

Dental Kanal Demo 2 OS4

(for pc/mac demos check our homepage )

The presentations was made using Hollywood Designer - a very nice addition to Hollywood:) You will find more information about Designer at the homepage of Airsoft Softwair

 Re: Hollywood 4.5 out now
Once upon a time I was pretty drunk last week and I managed to order Hollywood 4.5 and the designer. In retrospect that was a really bad idea. Not just the price, as it was some above my budget. But also having alcohol involved at your computer while your credit card is laying nearby never works well.

A few days later the mailman unexpectedly managed to drop a pack in my mailbox up here in the trolly norwegian woods. As the matter of fact I think my mailman is a troll, because I have never seen him, although he mostly gives me bills.

I inserted the disks in my Sam flex 733 and it was clearly stating in the installment that this software was for me only! With name and address. No hologram embedded code needed, like with other bulk software- I felt personally addressed to keep that promise of never copying, and I will! When someone takes the time to burn CDs specificly to a person they mean it!

After installing it nothing crashed. It was just like stated, a "Professional" software. And it is! I fooled around as much as I dared and everything was working perfectly. It was like it had a sandbox-environment allowing me to do all the silly stuff I always do, but without anything going wrong. I call that good programming.

But here the problems started; It was so easy to make something. The interface my girlfiend coud have understood, and she is not the brightest light on the christmas tree to put it that way.

Making presentations with text, sound and graphics worked like a charm. Including animation worked just as nice. I wanted to get into the coding itself and after a glance I deemed it easy.

The compilation went great and I can play the stuff on all desireble computers.

Here the problem became total:

I now sit up to quite late designing all sorts of stuff. It is so addictive! I hope I dont loose my job because I oversleep due to this software.

Hollywood is like flash, but more intriging, like Scala, but way better, or like powerpoint. But not. (Duh)

Andreas Falkenhahn, I love you in making this great software, but I hate you for taking all my spare time living in it.
