Re: AmigaOS Software Developer Kit Available
Hi,
Great news - sort of. The file is over 80Mb in size and no doubt mainly repeated material from the previous SDK. This was what happened the last time, I wasted hours downloading the file to find most of it identical. Can Hyperion PLEASE release a SMALLER file that contains just the newer material. Thanks to BT discrimination against rural areas in the UK I am unable to have a fast broadband connection and unlikely ever to be able to. This is NOT my choice belive me. I do not even have the option to pay more for a faster connection, it is limited by my BT line which BT do feck all about. So for those of us stuck with slow connections can the SDKs be released as Updates as well as full packages. It is unacceptable to have to download the entire SDK every time a few changes are made. What is wrong with releasing UPDATES with a proper installer to ensure the update is correctly installed. I am not willing to download tens of MB of repeated material, identical to what is already there. Especially if the download is as badly done as the OS4.1 update and extra garbage is tagged onto the end of it if you use Ibrowse Bill. Waiting for an UPDATE not an entire SDK replacement. |

Re: AmigaOS Software Developer Kit Available
Can't you just travel to the library or something or ask someone in your area to post a copy to you?
What you ask isn't impossible it's just another thing that would need to be maintained... I just got my recent monthly broadband account... $365.00 You should be happy you can't download quickly... a fast connection is a mixed blessing for some it would seem... LOL |

Great News this SDK is !
DL done :) @BillE: Quote: The file is over 80Mb in size and no doubt mainly repeated material from the previous SDK. This was what happened the last time, I wasted hours downloading the file to find most of it identical. It's normal. They cannot assume you have installed the previous SDK so they must do a full package each time. If they do additional upgrades, it will become time to time difficult to avoid problems with files forgotten to be updated, files missing and other many pb that can happen when doing additional updates. |

Wow - that's about 185 ?! How fast is that connection? A typical DSL connection here in Germany is around 30-40 ? - Flatrate! But of course it's correlated to the rest of the infrastructure, there are still places with no broadband at all - but these are adressed, government puts itself under pressure to have broadband connection in ALL houses here... we'll see (I won't bet on this...). |

Re: AmigaOS Software Developer Kit Available
I've been on the net since 1994, it was a natural progression from BBSing etc...
As a New Zealander I've always had to pay alot of money for access... not like the USA for example who have enjoyed uncapped access since day one... Currently I pay $90.00 a month for the connection an a 30gig allocation... once I go over 30gigs data I then pay $2 every gig... You can do the maths; some months I get up to $450.00... so as you can probably tell I have very little patience for people who complain about there costs in this area... Most people couldn't even justify spending $90.00 a month on a uncapped connection... The thing is though, some people complain about the cost of anything, WTF do they actually spend there money on? LOL |

I have 15MBit down and 2 MBit up for about 30-33? a month. Uncapped of course. In Sweden it's pretty much only mobile internet providers that limit transfer. EDIT: The fun thing is that last June we got an upgrade from 10MBit down and 1MBit up to the current speed. This together with a price cut of about 5?. EDIT2: This is also quite an high price in Sweden for the actual speed I have. My brother, who lives in a big town, has 50Mbit down and 20MBit up for less than I pay. |

Re: AmigaOS Software Developer Kit Available
It's not all sweetness and light in the U.S. There are lots of rural areas that don't have broadband access readily available. I have an urban home and a rural home where I spend weekends. My weekend home has satellite access, which is faster than modem but slower than DSL. Between the two places I pay about $100 a month -say 65 euro.

Re: AmigaOS Software Developer Kit Available
It sounds like Sweden perhaps gets the better deal these days?
But one thing that perhaps I can find some comfort in is this, if you ain't paying in one area you're probably paying in another... take it easy |
