Software News

We are happy to announce that a preliminary beta of Aquaria is available to download.
You need to buy the entire game from BitBlot to play it.
Included in the package the demo of Aquaria.
The package size is ~250MB so if you download it with OWB take a look at its size
If the included scripts fail to copy the support libs, copy them manually

----------------------------------------------
What is Aquaria?

A massive ocean world, teeming with life and filled with ancient secrets.
Join Naija, a lone underwater dweller in search of her family, as she explores the depths of Aquaria.
She'll travel from hidden caves, shrouded in darkness, to beautiful, sunlit oases, all lovingly handcrafted by its two creators.

Naija's story, narrated fully with voice overs, will become yours, as you join her on this magnificent adventure.

-------------------------
System requirements

* An AmigaNG (SAM,microA1,A1,Pegasos2)
* 512MB of RAM (1GB reccomended)
* A video card with at least 64MB of Ram (128MB reccomended to play the game correctly)
* Latest SDL library (included in the package)
* OpenAL (the included cause an error at exit of program)
* MiniGL 2.2

* The original Game. You can buy it from Bit Blot web site (www.bit-blot.com).
* Once you have the original game, copy the data to the game dir and replace the script original game dir included in this package

------------------------
Installation

Aquaria require some not yet released libs like SDL or MiniGL that are included in this package.
Run the script "Install Support Libs" that will install them for you.
It will backup the current libs as #libname#.preaquaria so you can revert to the original one if you have problems with other packages
Nothing else is required

-------------------------
Known problems

* If you have a system with 512MB and a 64MB of Video ram is better to close all prgram before run Aquaria.
Use also a 16Bit Workbench screen with compositing effects off to save Video RAM

* You could have trashed textures during the menu (and also the game). This means that you are out of memory (Video and/or System).
The game is still playable but you should free something before continue playing but a video card with 128MB of RAM should cure all problems (and sorry.. this isn't a problem on the game..).
If this happens you can close the game and restart from a saved location.

* When you click ESC during the game the machine could freeze.. I don't know why but i have nothing on serial and i don't know why it freeze..

 Re: Aquaria for AmigaOS4 released
Playing right now in it on my peg2 /1 ghz/ radeon9250-128mb.
Its absolutly proffessional game of good quality. And it does not matter about "amiiiigaaaa" or kind, its just game itself designed very well. Good graphics, nice effects, cool music. Very good.

And i run it, when i have compiling some sources in other window , and even with it it works fast ! Without any other heavy tasks, its works very fast.

Only one sad moment : when you run game in window mode, you cant move the mouse outside the game area. If i remember right, fix for it was pretty easy (like some changes in sdl settings).

Anyway, thanks a lot Andrea :)

@kas1e

Watching a bit of your OS4.1 video and noticed you have youtube videos opening from OWB with a context menu, how do you do this?

Have MPlayer installed + getvideo, but always have to resort to shell, context menu looks like a great solution.

 Re: Aquaria for AmigaOS4 released
@Daniel
I use mplayer+getvideo as you, and ClipDown. ClipDown give me a button on start (you can see it at top of screen, little one). And i just do in OWB "copy link to clipboard", then i press on "autoplay" button of clipdown and it spawn for me requester in which i choice format in which video will be plays, and mplayer spawn.
Far from perfect, but works.

I also make little script which do starting of Clipdown together with OWB (if i remember right, that script for now in latest ClipDown releases already).

 Re: Aquaria for AmigaOS4 released
@kas1e

Thanks for reply, will have give that a try, looks like a neat solution for youtube in absence of an OWB flash plugin. Going to have to try out FPSE too after seeing how well it runs on your system .

 Re: Aquaria for AmigaOS4 released
@Daniel
We already in offtopic a bit, but, FPSE works even faster that on video (because i setup it bad before, now it's faster in twice). All those Command&Conquer, Tekken3, Cyberia, CrashBandycoot and alt - works fine and fast.

@afxgroup
Now we need new Mplayer with GUI from you, and we all will be happy :)

Works well on A1XE, played 40 mins straight without lockups or else!

How can people complain these days? The last two years has been filled with new software, and hardware!

 Re: Aquaria for AmigaOS4 released
@nubechecorre

I have a PCI SATA card in PCI slot so there is no room for a PCI Radeon..

I plan to upgrade to Sam460EX or X1000 at the moment..
