Software News : Armagetron Advanced released for AmigaOS4.x

Software News

Armagetron Advanced is a 3D light cycle game based on the movie Tron.

It's a single player as well as an Online/LAN multiplayer arcade style game.

Your light cycle leaves a wall behind you, and you must avoid hitting other players while trying to get as many to hit your wall as possible.

With up to 32 player madness, let the games begin!

It is (soon) available from OS4Depot.

Nice port ! Works fast and all going well until exit. On exit first time it only spawn memguard output (without GR), with DSI. And when i run it second time, and exit, i have at that moment GR.

I can do more tests with debug version if you in interest.

I wish you were on IRC more often. I'll PM you a link to a debug version (compiled with -gstabs).

I compiled with newlib first, but that crashed on exit all the time in the eLadderLogWriter function. I could comment out the exit code regarding that function, but I initially thought some configuration files were written upon exit.

Then I compiled libxml2 for clib2 and then compiled the whole game using the clib2 runtime library. This is what was released, and doesn't crash at all for me upon exit (I haven't ran memguard).

Since comparing the Windows and Amiga versions, the 0 byte files it makes (that you see in the data/var directory) are normal. Perhaps it does indeed write immediately and not on exit.

I'll compile it again in newlib, comment out the code that invokes eLadderLogWriter upon exit, and make sure that it isn't stopping it from saving any data when exiting. If it works OK, i'll release that one instead.

I've test it and it runs fine in my Sam with 533MHZ.

Trying to run/exit new version about 20 times the game (with win/fullscreen modes) - all is fine. One more nasty game :)
