Software News : OpenBOR for AmigaOS 4.1 released

Software News

Beats of Rage is a freeware open source video game and moddable game engine made by Senile Team and inspired by Sega's classic Streets of Rage series. The term "moddable" means that the program allows users to create their own content, and thus their own beat-'em-up game, which is then called a "mod".

OpenBOR is the open source continuations of Beats of Rage and provides additional functionality not available in the original Beats of Rage game. It allows modders to add more moves and combos, amongst other things. OpenBOR is maintained by the lovely people at LavaLit.

The game has been tested with AmigaOS 4.1 and 4.1u2, Sam440 667/800 Mhz and AmigaOne G3/G4.

Huno has once again worked on optimizations and the joypad is even supported. The game can be played with effects (scale2X, bilinear, hq2X ...) and supports new and old PAK (easily found over the Internet).

OpenBor can be downloaded on OS4Depot
The 1st PAK can be downloaded at Senile Team's site

Enjoy !

This is great news! I had OpenBOR on my GP2X, and it was very good retro-style 2D side-scrolling action game engine (phew!).

I couldn't find a PAK file to download... Do you have to download the PC version? (I can always use my GP2X files, but others may not be so lucky)

I noticed that previous news from Huno and this one too, were not reported on Amigaworld, any reason for this?

@ChrisH : yes, you can take the Windows/Dos version (zip format) and put the BOR.pak in the OpenBor drawer.

@ Dax : feel free to post there since I won't do it (I'm fed up of reading never ending threads of whinning, trolling and bashing so I post hre only)

Re: OpenBOR for AmigaOS 4.1 released
Hello
Thank you very much amigans
This port is highly optimized compared to BOR, I wish you a great time with this engine for the supports of the Paks, the difference between the versions of PSP console type gp2x and other systems, which are resolutions of sprites so if you want to play in good conditions, I advise you all paks windows, dreamcast, gp2x, xbox360 paks Otherwise there are very very good quality, commercial grade preque. Give us your good links for great paks unforgettable
Thank Hunoppc

@All

Was it on this website where one developer could be proposed as a developer everyone can send some donation to?
If it's here, I would propose Huno as he spends a lot of time on his ports. This is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Huno, You rock!

This is not clear to me. Are you saying GP2X paks are good? I thought you earlier said they were low-resolution?

Also, I don't see any Windows PAKs on www.senileteam.com , unless you mean DOS. Are DOS paks any good?

PAK downloads for most consoles seem to require registration.

Re: OpenBOR for AmigaOS 4.1 released
Loved Streets of Rage back in the day, BOR looks great .

Having trouble finding/downloading paks so far, is it it possible to upload the original pak onto OS4depot, maybe seperate from OpenBOR itself?

@ HunoPPC

Unlike some who have good talents in particular areas, your using them, great to see.

Wanted to ask how hard it would be to port something from RuneSoft game collection?

I ask, as I am sure they would not mind someone else porting their games that they themselves have ported.

Cheers

P.S. Is this new version of OpenBOR faster and more feature packed then the original BOR I downloaded ages ago?
