Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
Did you run the installer first? Or did you start it directly after unpacking? You have to run the installer and choose a destination path... then you have to launch AMC from there.

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
: ) Did you read the part about the slow cpu flag? Please try it and give feedback how it works than.
To be honest i am sad that a G4 1GHZ is not as fast as a first gen iMica.... : ( can not believe it that the difference is that large. Whatever Fabio made AMC working enjoyable on his SAM 533 with the slow cpu flag. Conclusion on a G4 1GHz it should be fast than ; ) With help from you we can find a compromise for faster but still not fast enough machines. |

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
@kas1e
I appreciate the porting u do for AOS4 but that comment of you is .. not very smart. Haven't tested AMC for now, but to blame hollywood being slow is non-sense -- at least not for things like AMC is using, e.g. User Interfaces or presentations. Video/Audio decoding is maybe slow when done with any script language, but that is here also not the case: it'S done with mplayer. regards, nexus |

Don't work here, after installing (I choose "sys:software" as path) I launch it but AMC start iconified and show this error:

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
Yep. Really test it than with the slow cpu flag. Andrea Palmate? improved mplayer for AOS as much as possible until now (for this release). In the options of AMC you can set a alternative path to another mplayer binary... just for the future improvements or different builds.
Whatever from the AMC side you can or maybe you have to use the slow cpu flag for now. Mplayer for AmigaOS needs a bit love more. I have to admit that i never used AOS 4.x but i will. i can not speak about videodrivers for example... because i have no clue yet how good they are. This is not meant as excuse. .. please try the slow cpu flag and tell us if it helps. Than we can try to make a flag for faster machines as compromise. We wan't to make it perfect. We wan't to serve you ; ) |

@samo79
Hmm... Fabio!!!!! Where are you? : D Can you please send the log file AMC created in your Ram to info@a-mc.biz ? You are sure that you started AMC from the install destination? Sure you are sure! Forget this question. Sorry i can not help because it seems a bit specific to your system and Fabio will need the logfile and some infos would be handy. Which Version of AmigaOS, RAM, Screensize would be helpful too. |

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
@nexus
I am not about plaing of files, i am about general work of opening windowses, starting, and alt. Anyway, check it yourself. I.e. exactly about AMC code itself. And where you found "not smart answers" i do not understand => all hollywood based apps are not fast. Some usable more or less, some not, but they all a bit (and some time not a bit) slow all the time. |

Ok i email this to Fabio... there seems to be a fault with prefs. Let's see what Fabio says. Stay tuned.
One correction... Fabio made it running on a SAM677 not on a SAM533. |

You can also disable the intro-animation in settings.
You can boost up the Startanimation with holding esc on your keyboard. The demo version doesn't save the settings. |

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
Found menus a bit too slow so am using Default (16-9_LessFX) and can't really see that I'm missing out yet. Unfortunately Mason theme seems to be broken?
Not tried slow CPU option yet seems to run fast enough on Sam 733MHz using the LessFX theme. Is it possible to turn off the AMC intro, seems to take a while on each startup? Also noticed a problem with device list, there is a space between the device name and colon which results in AMC not finding the drive? |

Hi Daniel,
the Meson's theme is not broken but not completed, I'm very sorry because it never be in the distribution! About the space, seems to be something wrong I'm checking right now even if on my SAM440ep it's working fine... |

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
@Allanon
Tested it a bit more with all the options, its a bit faster with flag/theme, but still not fast. And navigate beetwen buttons are slow too @nexus Did you test it already ? (just in interest to see smart answer from you, about not slow hollywood based programs). @phoenixkonsole Quote:
Imho there is nothing what we can to do with it to speed up it radically, just because it hollywood based (even if someone can found such opinion not smart enough). I check back in times some more or less interesting by idea hollywood based programs, and they all was a bit slow. I.e. not reactive fast reqction on keys, not reactive fast opening of windowses, scrolling and all the other little, but annoing thinks. Of couse its too late to say it, but : if only such project will be in C , then it will radically change the results (+ maybe opengl usage, which also will do all the stuff fast, and still, can be cross-platform beetwen amiga platforms). But its too late imho , because you all already spend too much energy in what we already have. |

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
Hi Kas1e,
I think that every one has a different perception of "fast" :) On my Sam440ep @667 the navigation is really usable on a 1280x1024x32 screen. It's not lightning fast! but not slow, really! I can improve speed disabling some more FX or caching menu's graphics... I haven't done it because I was thinking that this way could be ok for most people. Anyway I'm open to discuss about anything that could improve user experience :) I don't want to throw from the window 8 month of almost full time work on this project ;) |

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
@Allanon
As one more idea: maybe make some kind of "default presets", which will be loads by default for aos4 users, with disabled as much as possible, just to make it works fast. And then, everyone can change it as they want. |

Ok, this is a good idea... I've started AMC at max and then I've let the user to reduce FX. In the next releases I'll start AMC with the minimum and I will let the user to add more FX if they want. |

Btw, can hollywood for now use OpenGL or any HW acceleration for image drawing/manipulations ? That can help very much. Expectually for jumping beetwen buttons and everythere where need redraw something on screen |

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
@kas1e
About OpenGL in the current version the is no way to use it, about HW acceleration, for 2d operations, I know that some transitions use it if available, like for example the crossfade FX. I hope that in the next Hollywood releases all the graphic subsystem will be HW accelerated, this could be the greatest gift an Hollywood user could receive! :) |

Hi Samo79,
The Mason theme is not completed and it should never be there. To resume your installation do the following simple steps: 1. Go in AMC/themes/Default 2. Copy the file 'Theme.ath' in 'AMC/themes/' 3. Rename 'AMC/Themes/Theme.ath' with 'AMC/Themes/CurrentTheme.ath' |

Is it possible to create an LhA archive? It will come in better imho and don't mess with that .7z. 7z might work ok under AROS, but under AmigaOS LhA is the best I believe and more flexible. |

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
@kas1e
No, I haven't tried it yet because of the lack of time. Working too much .. sigh. And i didn't doubt that you recognized something as being slow. Your not "so smart" claim was that it has to bee slow due to hollywood. I used hollywood for some presentations and programmed for that my own presentation application with hollywood on a sam440ep 667Mhz. Unfortunately, I never found the time to get it out of the "proof of concept"-phase, but it's useful for myself However, I indeed can say that hollywood is not the reason for an application being "slow" -- of course, depending on the task to be fulfilled. By the way, I know also some games on AOS4 that are slow and have been written in C and I don't blame the programming language for it Oh, and I'm looking forward to try AMC on AOS4 as soon as I find enough time and I appreciate the efforts done to make this possible on AOS4. The no-fun part is always to get an application out of the "proof of concept" phase and eventually, listen to the moaning of users then -- I always failed with that (so far) Thanks! regards, nexus |

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
Why AMC altered my Startup-Sequence? I really hate that, although it creates a backup file I don't find a reason to load the scheduler every time I startup my computer.

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
@Phantom
The reason is that if you schedule a recording and then you exit from AMC or restart your system, the recording will take place because the scheduler will take care of your programmed event. But since many users are screeming about this tool and the Startup-Sequence modification I'll change the installer to ask the user to manually setup the Scheduler if they want and if they need it. :) |

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
@ Allanon
Hehe, actually I didn't shout by saying "I hate this", but altering the startup-sequence must be disastrous sometimes, especially for novice users, that's why we have the user-startup instead (I don't have problem, I use Amigas since 1991, but I'm speaking for novice users here). About the problem I mentioned earlier, any hint how it didn't work? |

@Phantom
I think is something related with datatypes... but I don't have found yet the cause since in some systems works as expected. I'm still investigating... |

P4D is near completion!
The problem is to bundle a package that is easy to install and configure. Think you have to wait for Xmas! |

@Phantom
Works fine here with the Unsatisfactory Software version from Aminet. You have to configure deficons if you want .7z files to have an icon with UnArc as default tool - see the readme on Aminet. |

I agree with Phantom, modifying the Startup-Sequence is a no-no except in very special cases where things have to be executed before anything else (which really should not be the case with third party apps). Use the User-Startup if you must, of even better, why not launch it from WBStartup? That way the user has full control over whether it is enabled or not. Best regards, Niels |

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
@prowler
The volume name problem is really irritating, I get an OS requester asking to mount/assign/etc the drive each time. Figured out how to turn the intro off, was in misc config/options. IMHO should turn off after first run. Something like AMC needs really fast start up to be worth running, i.e. I can press a remote control button from sofa and it starts pretty much instantly, with the intro on I may as well go over to the Amiga and just run TuneNet as usual to play music. AMC looks promising, just this drive name bug stopping me from enjoying it now. |

When looking for an error log in T: I noticed AMC has taken a grab of my Workbench and saved there as a PNG, what's the purpose of this?

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
@Allanon & phoenixkonsole:
This looks like a very fine application indeed, congratulations! My above comments are only minor complaints or suggestions compared to the great work you've done. I'd love to try this out myself, but could you (or somebody who installed it already) please tell me what the installer does in some detail? I never install stuff without first checking the Installer script, but since you have seen fit to not use the standard Installer, this is impossible for me. I have understood from the comments that I should expect a modification to the Startup-Sequence (which I can revert since you make a backup, fine), but apart from that, is anything else modified, or any files installed in other places than the main installation drawer? Thanks in advance. Best regards, Niels |

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
@Allanon
Suggestion... could MPlayer location be set to default to APPDIR:MPlayer in future? That way providing the user had run MPlayer on the system before, AMC would find it regardless of specific location. |

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
@nbache
thank ytou for your suggestions :) about the installer it copy the content of the AMC drawer to your chosen destination, setting up the icons and finally the addition to the Startup-Sequence. The last thing is to launch the scheduler in the background. I've chosen a custom program because this way I have only one program for all platforms, infact the installer act in base of the platform where it is currently running. |

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
@Daniel
I've already fixed the "space" bug, I'm only waiting for a confirmation from some people that have had this problem too and who has received the new executable to test. About the MPlayer location, you can change the location from the options section, I've chosen this way because the mplayer version provided has been modified for AMC adding some missing features like the geometry argument for example |

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
Need Help.
-------------- For people that receive the error: Quote: Image "Video.png" does not have an alpha channel! File: ScuiLib_7(054).hws (current line:13755 - In function: LoadBrush) Can you please try to go to AMC/Themes/default/icons and try to open Video.png with Multiview, then from the menu choice Information and report the version number in the information window. ----- Another great help could be to send me a Snoopy log to see where is the critical point Thank you in advance |

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
The same as above:
Multiview 53.2 (26.03.2009) datatypes.library 53.4 (04.11.2009) Although I use the WarpPNG datatype, I don't know it that conflicts somehow, but I find it impossible. |

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
I've received a Snoopy log from a kind user and seems that WarpPng is causing this problem. I've looked quickly at the website of the WarpDT and I think it can be easily resolved configuring the Png Datatype alpha channel handling.
As soon as possible I will install it on my SAM440 to be sure that this is the problem. |

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
No, wait a moment.
I've installed WarpDT + PngDatatype You have to set Alpha Channel to KEEP in the DT prefs but there is still something wrong in this video.png file. I've loaded and saved back again with a paint program and magically the error was gone, I've to check all icons to make it compatible with WarpPNG DT. |

Re: AMC v1.2 for AmigaOS4.x has been released!
Ok, I've fixed this problem so image files are working with WarpDT too, I'm goin to pack the file to replace to patch the demo, I'll post here a direct link to the AMC site as soon as they will be ready!
Thanks to all for your feedback. In the next days I'll work on the other things like the Installer (not using the Startup-Sequence directly), light theme as default, and so on... |
