Re: Sputnik OS4 Port Update
New beta adding features like cookies, file downloading, fast-links, SLL and spoofing was released for MOS a few days ago.
Thanks for the donations so far, we're getting close |

Re: Sputnik OS4 Port Update
As I don't have AS04 capable hardware, and as there is no immediate prospect of hardware, I won't be donating ...... again.

Re: Sputnik OS4 Port Update
? 2,126.74 from just 81 donors. That's pretty generous. To be honest, I would have expected more people donate. ?5-10 isn't that much really.
Aren't there supposed to be 1000 or more A1s out there? I guess that having ~10% donate is not that bad. Could be better though. Hans |

Re: Sputnik OS4 Port Update
Hans: people who donate/care/buy never goes above a mere 10% out of the total user(s), this has been proved ages ago and it goes for just about any format out there, various reasons to it.
As a game developer i could never expect to sell 1000 copies of a game if there was 1000-1500 owners, tops i'd sell 150 but if its a real hit some people would chip in eventually (when its in a bargin bin)... Same goes for this project, look how many donated to Aweb or mplayer or whatever, people prefer other projects (like for instance AWEB or IBrowse over sputnik). I am one of thoose who prefer IBrowse over just about anything out there , i donated towards many things i never actually cared about in the past and i will again in the future...heck i even bought AWEB which i don't like at all. Yep, i havent donated towards sputnik yet but thats not because i dont want it or whatever, just waiting for a number i could match, thats all. Anyway i think more of getting this so my friends in the community wont use their pc or whatever anymore...but as soon as this is out they will moan about something else missing :) Anyway if you think so badly about amount of donations then i strongly suggest you bump it up even further...also look how amizilla grew over time..i suspect simmilar things migth happen to sputnik. Finally, i have tried sputnik on morphos and sorry but i fail to see the hype, and yes i even tried the latest one. 3 years time it might go against IBrowse and maybe 1-2 years before its up against Aweb. ...end of the day, all due respect to the author of sputnik, i must admit that he is in my fan book for even trying to do a browser and hopefully he wont regret it. ----------------------- Troels: thanks for all the updates about this topic, if it hadnt been for you i would never have even heard about it. |

@Toaks
Yes I guess that 10% is a pretty typical response to something like this. Maybe once new hardware is available with Amiga OS4 more people will donate. I've already donated, even though I prefer IBrowse (registered that one, so I contributed there too). Hans |

Re: Sputnik OS4 Port Update
January, February, Mars are bad months for any donations from me.
I think it?s an important project, and it deserves some $ to keep it going. |

If Sputnik and Ibrowse3 end up being as feature rich as I hope, the next thing you will hear me scream/whine and moan about will be JAVA. A good browser with a JAVA plugin would make me a very very happy man as I could then do the homebanking stuff on my Amiga. |
