ACube Systems is pleased to announce a new release of the U-Boot firmware for its line of motherboards Sam460ex.

What's new in this version:

- improved Radeon X1550, X1650, X1950 setup
- fixed a bug in the PCI-E setup which cures a crash when both a gfx card and an USB3 card were used
- DDR2 boost setup is now disabled by default, to enable it, set ddr2_boost to 1 from the U-Boot prompt
- removed a debug output from ext2fs.c

The updated installation guide describes in detail the usual installation method (ISO image) and alternative methods (TFTP). Inside the archive you will find both the ISO image and the TFTP updater

You can download installation archives from:

Additional information:

Please note: UBoot and UBoot updater makes use of GPL code and thus are both published under GPL.

Thanks for the update, installed fine using TFTP from my A1.

What are the benefits and/or drawbacks of this? What would be a reason for me to set this var?

Best regards,

Niels

My humble guess it that it will boost the DDR RAM speed somehow. But it is off by default because maybe not all RAM chips can handle the speed boost.

I seem to remember that someone had a problem after the last update when they enabled something like this. So they made a flag out of it and turned it off by default.

I would in all situations tru to switch on as many RAM and cache boost parameter I could as long as the system is stable. I use SetA1 to tweak the RAM speed on my A1-XE. Makes a noticable difference actually.
