Great idea Hyperion. It's also great to get this stuff away from the community sites, where everybody can write and pollute a thread with off topic stuff.

Oh and it looks great....only lacks a cute boing ball

 Re: AmigaOS Support Forum Launched
Waiting for 6 hours already for have activate my account :(

It is possible to make it all automatically, without waiting for manual aproving ? Like maybe adding "serial info" field in register field, so, engine will compare if that serial number are valid and here, and grand automatically access without long waiting ?

@Hyperion
This sounds good, as long as moderation/etc does not detract from your coding time

I doubt it, since I get the *feeling* this forum will be ruled by an iron hand (making Amigans.net look like a lax troll-infested land by comparison! Only sort of kidding).

Not that I object to that (it's kinda expected in an official forum from any company) but something to keep in mind, since I know you like to ummm "speak your mind" very loudly sometimes...

As i see, some topic which present on their forum, already can be erased or moved to offtopic, as it make no big sense (like for example, asking about OpenOffice progress, its not Hyperion's work as i remember). And for "iron-hand" need time, which no one from hyperion have :)

After reading your last post here about closing problems, and the way how you talk with others, i do not think that its i "very loudly" :))

I recive first mail just after few seconds after registration, in which words like:

Quote:

Your account is currently inactive and will need to be approved by an administrator before you can log in. Another email will be sent when this
has occurred.

Then no more mails at all, and i can't login to forum as it says "your account is not activated".

Guys, ssolie is activating each account. He doesn't sit & wait for ppl to register & he does like to sleep, so consider the time zone when you register, if nothing happens right away.

And remember, nothing is perfect.

@sundown
We all know that, manual work its always manual works and other problems related to it.

The point about automatic approving (by checking of serial code info for example when user do registration), its because sometime Ssolie will busy, sometime he will not at home, some time he will sick, sometime he will not able to aprove accounts. And so, some new users from time to time will have some problems like waiting for dunno what. Its we (old users) have patience, but new users (who not fanatic) mostly will not have patience and fully automatic registration will solve all potencial future problems.

Of course its not very big deal, but, to make everything perfect for the new customers: fully automatic process registration is better imho.

@Steven
Maybe it possible just use the same DB which use main hyperion site : so, all the registered users on one site, will have automatically account on forum too ?

Steven has no time to answer forum inquires, he says to email him if you have questions. Straight from the horses mouth, err, fingers.

No problem, but ppl need to realize the fastest way to get to ssolie is through email, he's quite stubborn about that.

Just because I stick-up for my opinion (sometimes quite loudly!) doesn't mean you don't either . I also note that nearly 50% of the posts here are yours

P.S. This was NOT a criticism, just a polite suggestion to be careful (like I am). I don't want to see you banned from there on your first week, just because you decided to argue with someone from Hyperion
