Re: Timberwolf status update
Good that work is still going on, but bad that as usuall its all take so long ..
@Thomas Quote:
Dunno if we have latest sqlite on os4depot, but as far as i remember, Crhis already make a port (which some of us already use). But will be not bad if you can just upload it to os4depot.. Btw, related to rendering bugs which have alpha of FF3.6 which we have on os4depot : i think before, that its all was badly-rendered just because of bugs in the HW-cairo implementation, nope ? |

Re: Timberwolf status update
Status update is always welcome altrough i wonder if could be possible to update directly (say will less changes) to revision 6.0 of Firefox as the infrastructur in behind is very similar when not equal to the revision 4.0
I'm still very very curious to try of course, expecially in this new version i really hope to see a real "Amiga style GUI" as mutch as possible Keep it up ! |

@Samo79
If now they will start to worry about anything which not 4.0 (6.0, etc), then something make me think, that we will have nothing at all :) Better just have stable 4.0 version, without bugs: it will be enough for next 5-10 years :) |

Re: Timberwolf status update
@kas1e
LOL yep i ask only because 6.0 seems quite similar to 4.0 so maybe it's just a compile question and no more, but still having a stable 4.0 is enough for sure |

Re: Timberwolf status update
This is very good news.
Looking forward to test a new alpha/beta when it's ready. Seems that the firefox team is just trying to get a higher version number fast. Don't really share that though. |

Re: Timberwolf status update
The point for "fixing" 4.0 is that if we try to keep up with the updates of the Mozilla Foundation, this will never be completed. Every two or three months they want to release a new version, and even if there are only marginal changes it still means a single patch can break things.
I'd rather have this thing complete and usable on an "older" version than trying to chase a rainbow. |

@Rogue
Regarding your last paragraph, I don't disagree with you... But isn't the bounty for the latest version of Firefox? (I suspect I know what you mean, but your statement seems easily misunderstood.) |

Re: Timberwolf status update
@ChrisH
Not sure how anyone could misinterpret that. It was well known that originally they aimed to produce 3.5 in order to meet the bounty. Common sense prevailed and more importantly a desire to get it correct from the outset meant that the Friedens chose to start at 4.0. FireFox 3.5 was becoming very unpopular. The FF versioning is another story altogether, the only reason they are plan to jump so quickly is because 4 is less than 10. Most computer users are naive and stupid. How can Chrome possibly be at version 10 already - its been out what 2 years? Purely about marketing, hahaha if google had the bulls they would call it Chrome X to spite Apple. And of course Internet *spits* Explorer is hitting 10 as well soon - but the development story behind IE is definitely more deserving of a 10 as its been around since what 1995? I look forward to the end of August which much anticipation. |

Re: Timberwolf status update
Once v4 is out, it shouldn't be too difficult to update it to v5. Due to the versioning thing v5 is more of a v4.1 anyway, I doubt there are any major internal changes.
