Re: AmigaOne 500 revealed
Price: EUR 878 (1062.38 EUR including VAT where applicable)..which is not bad considering it comes with the latest AmigaOS4.x licence and an ACube T-Shirt
great to see the AmigaOne brand unification..thanks ACube, Hyperion, and A-Eon |

Re: AmigaOne 500 revealed
It should be a fair amount faster than the A1 because of the DDR memory bus and the PCI-E graphics! Remember the A1 has very slow RAM.
I hope Father Christmas has big pockets 'cos that's the only way I can afford one, despite the very reasonable price! Boo. |

@Spirantho
IIRC, the CPU itself is 25% slower per clock though. |

Re: AmigaOne 500 revealed
Thumbs up in general. However it's a shame they say "No need to look for and install peripherals ... Just have fun. We take care of the rest."
But they don't appear to provide a Radeon 9250 (or similar), so people won't be able to use 3D graphics, nor compositing. That seems like a major omission :( OK, they do offer the option of a "PCIe Radeon 4650", but that's not going to support 3D stuff until AmigaOS 4.2 (which will be a paid update). |

Commodore never sold the A500, and then said "now you've bought your new Amiga, you need to buy & install a graphics card before you can play the latest games" |

Re: AmigaOne 500 revealed
@ChrisH
It's only temporary, in the end Aeon/Hyperion cannot afford to delay the X1000 much further and they stated the latter will ship with 4.2, meaning 4.2 isn't too far in the future either. And then the AmigaOne 500 will be sold with 4.2 pre-installed. An hassle at the moment but not destined to exist for long. As for the news itself, unified branding is something major and a big step in the right direction. |

Re: AmigaOne 500 revealed
It's not X500 but AmigaOne 500 (without the "X").
The AmigaOne 500 has the same drivers than the Sam460 (logical). |

Re: AmigaOne 500 revealed
@Elwood
Some people complain gfx card, keyboard, mouse isnt in the package. i would be happy if the X1000 come without all this extra, then i could buy the things i like. For example i will use my logitech mouse and keyboard as i dont want to use some cheap stuff with boing and a logo just because its amiga. For the case i will see if it fits in my studio. If not then ill use my old good looking one. For the Acube you people can choose, either buy the A500 package or the sam460 board. Isnt it wonderfull to be able to choose :) |

No, they didn't because to play the latest AGA games you had to buy an entirely new computer (A1200 or A4000). |
