Re: New batch of Sam440ep Flex
At the current Exchange rate of UK Pound to Euro, that is a very good offer indeed.

Re: New batch of Sam440ep Flex
Given that that the Euro:Pound exchange rate roughly equals how much the UK's VAT adds (*1.20), we can approximately say that:
270 Euros without tax = 270 Pounds WITH tax! Of course you need to add P&P on top of that, and possibly (?) a Royal Mail charge for handling Customs VAT. |

This new batch is equipped with a new Uboot release that adds support for booting from PATA devices connected to VIA VT6421 controller. Can someone clarify the significance of this sentence? Is the VIA VT6421 controller the onboard controller or some sort of card? My understanding is that the onboard controller doesn't support dma and that users are resorting to using sata cards, which in turns limits their choice for video card (or some such thing). Can someone who has been paying more attention than I have lay this out for me? Does Hans' driver play into this somehow? Is it included with the sale? This seems like a really good price, but I'm trying to understand exactly what's being sold. Thanks for any help. |

Re: New batch of Sam440ep Flex
Actuallay, the SATA ports f the Sam440 work without any trouble on DMA modes.
SOme people have older PATA drives that they want to use on their Sam440 so U-Boot has been enhanced to support the VIA VT6421 IDE PCI cards to allow people willing to use it to do so. But you can live without, it's only an enhancement for those requiring it. |

@klesterjr
You are probably thinking of the Sam460. These are *Sam440*s. |
