Re: Hyperion Entertainment re-distributes classic Cinemaw...
Great news! Though the colon in the name of Antheads caused issues in OWB.

Re: Hyperion Entertainment re-distributes classic Cinemaw...
@thread
really enjoying these right now. i was expecting just some ADF files to download; and i was wrong. these are very nicely packaged games which launch with an icon and include manuals, and even some have reference cards to print out. i feel like it's the late 1980s all over again. wonderful job, hyperion, and thanks to whomever packaged these up. oh, and of course a big thanks to @ChrisH, too. -- eliyahu |

I'm sure that those who worked hard on it appreciate such comments. It seems that no-one posting on the AmigaWorld news item has even downloaded anything yet - and would rather just moan about something they have no clue about. |

Some people show incredible creativity in finding negative angles to positive news. If only that creativity could be harnessed to do something useful... I think that it's great that AmigaOS (4.1) users can not only run these titles without messing around with config files or searching for ROMs, but that the old Cinemaware classics are provided in easy to use packages. And don't forget, this package is available to ALL registered AmigaOS users including 4.0, although only 4.1 includes every thing you need out of the box.

Nice news and great games for a great os!.. now what we need is only JIT for UAE :)
btw great news! @SSolie Maybe, all these games can be included in a next os release? so the final user, will have a complete new Amiga OS (4.2) with all programs he can need, like Timberwolf, LibreOffice and even games like Cinemware games |

If your "competitor" has a news item, water it down with stupid comments until people stop seeing it as positive. It's the reason why I don't frequent AmigaWorld anymore. Too much infighting. |

Re: Hyperion Entertainment re-distributes classic Cinemaw...
@SSolie
I tried to play some games but without luck.. Here on my system almost all games crashed at startup, most of them with WHDLoad problems.. The only game that I was able to play is Defender Of The Crown CD32 version while I wasn't able to play the following games: DefenderOfTheCrown DefenderOfTheCrownCDTV ItCameFromTheDesert ItCameFromTheDesert2Antheads LordsOfTheRisingSun RocketRanger Sinbad I have to try the other games.. Sometimes I also had some uae's GR at startup.. |

If the message is to do with a Kickstart ROM, then ensure that (a) RunInUAE was updated via AmiUpdate, and (b) do you know if you installed Update 6 over Update *5*? |

Re: Hyperion Entertainment re-distributes classic Cinemaw...
@ChrisH
I got the crash at startup here too with all the latest updates from amiupdate. Först a DSI error and the ISI. It worked fine before this release. I can choose to run runinuae and use the menu option to boot to workbench and that will make it crash as well. A1 G4 XE, 1GB RAM. Recently my competition pro stopped working with uae and I also tried it with hatari without any luck. Don't think that it's related in any way but thought that I whould mention it. This has happened recently (after update 6). |

@Chris
Yes RunInUAE was Updated with AmiUpdate and Amiga OS was updated to the last release with AmiUpdate too. My system is a Sam440ep with Amiga OS 4.1u6 and RUAE is the version rc7, the latest. I send you an email with the error the games give me. Btw, it is a kickimage error.. |

Först a DSI error and the ISI. It worked fine before this release. When you get a Grim Reaper, it would really help if you pressed the More button, and then Write Crashlog. This will create a file in RAM, which you can then send to me (or open with Notepad & copy & paste here). But my first guess is it is caused by the Catweasel driver update present in Update 5 (or was it 4?). Until a fix is released, the work-around is to move or delete the following file: Sys:Libs/AmigaInput/PCI_CatweaselJoystick.driver If you do NOT have a Catweasel, then you can just type this in the Shell: Delete Sys:Libs/AmigaInput/PCI_CatweaselJoystick.driver |

Re: Hyperion Entertainment re-distributes classic Cinemaw...
@Chris
As I told you via E-Mail, I solved my problem re-installing RUAE. Now it works fine and the games start without problems About the game-speed, I think a per-game configuration can help. I'll work on that and see what I'll be able to do |

It's the Amiga way. If your "competitor" has a news item, water it down with stupid comments until people stop seeing it as positive. Apart from Channel_Z (who seems mostly an AROS + Classic user?), I'm not sure that anyone else falls into the category of trashing "competitors" in that news item: * OlafS25 - while I think he is mainly an AROS user, he usually seems to treat OS4 in a positive fashion, so I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, and just assume he had a lapse of judgment. * Robert - appears to be an OS4.0 user with genuine interest in reviving his old AmigaOne. His excessive posts appears to be due to (a) he's a bit sensitive about the lack of compatibility with OS4.0 (given he only has 4.0), and (b) he's new (ly returned?) to AmigaWorld & hasn't yet got used how to behave there. (i.e. it is easy to get sucked into a silly argument without realising.) * jorkany - we know his agenda well, but he was actually amazingly restrained in that thread, so I can't really complain. In short, it is easy to see phantom trolls where there are mostly just users behaving foolishly. Unfortunately trolls tend to trigger foolish behaviour in unsuspecting users. |
