Re: Dir Me Up available on AmigaOS 4.1
Tryed.
What i like: - light - small - runs without problems after dbl-click - something which can be usefull - maybe someday will be one more filemanager ?:) What i dislike: - The first Image which spawning at running. Image not bad, just will be annoing if it all the time will showns on running. I hope it only in demo version ? If yes, then i will buy it just for sake of support :) - images in toolbar not AISS ones. So, make a bit wrong feel and look. User need again understand in new software what all those buttons about, what all of them mean and so on. Of course buble-help, of course test-and-will-know, but still, AISS is done for that purposes - When i close first image at start, then, i think about 2-3 seconds 100% cpu loading, everything else in system crawls and overloads, and when main window showup CPU reduce again to normal state - Window with words "buy me full or try" seems with some "fade" effect, which of course nice for one/two tried, but will annoy pretty well if all system requesters in SW will shows like this :) - maybe just a browsing for demo-version not enough, as for everything else i try i have "buy me", so i even can't test anything except browsing. But anyway, one more quality SW, nice to check, and if first image only in demo versio, will also buy it as well. |

Sadly.. And no option to turn it off ? Imho it is necessary to not have splashes which will slow users work down. I.e. when user want to do something, he just dbl-click and want to do it right now, without 2-3-4-5 seconds of waiting + manual closing of window and so on. Besides it is not a game , but some kind of SW which one can use quite offten, so disabling of splashes is must imho. In compare with all the other programms, splashes only here in demo versions. When user buy a full one, splashes disappear, or at least can be disabled. No one want to see the same image again and again and again :) |

Re: Dir Me Up available on AmigaOS 4.1
Concerning AISS, it seems that I can't use it as it's a commercial project. Quoted from AISS PDF ( http://www.masonicons.info/resources/aiss412.pdf) "You may not use this work for commercial purposes" (page 5).

Re: Dir Me Up available on AmigaOS 4.1
Due to the fact that AISS is a standard ressource of AmigaOS 4.1 you don't need to *distribute* any pictures from the AISS repository but can assume that they are *already there* (accessible through the "tbimages:" assign). To check which image to use for what button you might use AISSview (from OS4Depot).
Most of AmigaOS 4.1 software use the pre-installed AISS imagary for their GUIs. |

@cha05e90,
Yes, it's true but I think I'll check with Mason before doing it. |

Re: Dir Me Up available on AmigaOS 4.1
AISS is a must to have, the splash window is boring, you could put a tooltype or prefs file to choose those features

Thanks ! Just disable it for registered version by default + add an option in settings like "enable splash screen on/off". Anyway, i buy a copy already in case of support. 10E its nothing anyway :) |

@sofistisoftware,
There's already a prefs window in the software. |

I haven't tried it yet, but what I can say is that it's a great surprise to see you release such a software so close to the Ask Me Up release! Good work! About the splash under some other systems that's quite common to have a splash screen displayed even for productivity software just the splash screen must be done while loading other parts of the software (like loading GUI imagery which is probably what takes the additional 2-3 seconds kas1e is pointing). About the Imagery itself, I'm almost sure you could get permission from Mason if you ask for it (other commercial products got access to it). I agree that using that imagery will help a lot users to understand how to use the software. You can always provide your own icons and fallback to them if AISS isn't installed. Keep up the good work! |
