Re: Jabberwocky 1.9 released
Yeah thats what I read. It still doesn't explain what a jabber client is.

Re: Jabberwocky 1.9 released
@djrikki
It is an Instant Messaging application that connects on jabber servers. The Jabber servers use the XMPP protocol which use XML a lot, and have the ability to connect to various networks like ICQ, MSN, AIM, IRC etc.. The XMPP protocol is the one that Facebook use right now. So, you can even connect to your Facebook account and chat with your friends. @all Can you guys propose one good server to use? I tried yesterday the comm.unicate.me server, which gives Facebook and MSN transports. But I would like to connect to Google Talk, Skype and ICQ too. |

Re: Jabberwocky 1.9 released
@kas1e
Yes, I mind. I can no longer contact the member of the Jabberwocky SourceForge team who maintains the Jabberwocky home page which has had links to version 1.7 for years. I'm guessing that it will link to the old version forever (or until the site is removed). I prefer not to have the same situation at OS4Depot. Years ago I uploaded a defective command utility at OS4Depot and someone else then uploaded it to Aminet. I fixed the utility at OS4Depot but the broken version will sit on Aminet forever. If you want to upload Jabberwocky to OS4Depot, upload a text file named "Jabberwocky" at OS4Depot with a link to: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ajabberwocky/files/Jabberwocky If you upload the actual program be sure to state that the latest version can be obtained at the above link. |

Re: Jabberwocky 1.9 released
@all
Jabberwocky is no longer actively developed. However, I have added some improvements and bug fixes over the years which are included in the latest release. Check the changes for (unreleased) version 1.8 and latest version 1.9 in the readme file. Version 1,9 is a "maintenance" release that consolidates changes made in unreleased versions and beta versions along with a recent change that helps prevent disconnection from Jabber (XMPP) servers. This release will likely be the last. |

Re: Jabberwocky 1.9 released
@walkero
Be aware that the owners of Jabber servers have access to your passwords for other IM platforms when you register with transports. You can't be sure that your IM accounts (MSN for example) registered with a transport won't be used for illegal activities that would trace back to you. I don't recommend using the transports anymore. Previously, you could add Google Talk contacts to Jabberwocky because the Jabber network was interconnected with Google Talk since they both use XMPP protocol. I haven't tested that in several years but it may still work. |

Re: Jabberwocky 1.9 released
@thread
works fine with google talk, but only via transport since google turned off its non-secured connections via XMPP some time ago. it can also be used with yahoo!, MSN, etc., if your jabber server supports it. you can also directly connect to facebook chat with it as well: http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/v ... _id=37085&forum=32#693712 -- eliyahu |
