Question: what OS is going to run on it? Amiga Inc doesn't know yet, because they didn't mention OS4 in the announcement. If they win the lawsuit, they still need to get the kernel from the Friedens and other external parts from OS4 developers. Many drivers have to be written and it is unknown who will do this. OTOH, the SAM exists, runs and porting OS4 would be a breeze. Oh well, bloody politics... ![]() |

![]() Which kind of OS run and use a dual core processor ?? Amiga OS ??
No.. so even if this machine will ever see the day of light this will not be for os4 For OS5 ?? well i doubt.. adding support for 64Bit CPU ( not dos.library ) and support for dual processor need some times and programmers with experience.. and that know amiga os.. So if there is no Hyperion i don't know what else could do this job for amiga inc... How many times we should read this kind of news from amiga inc ?? When do they will finish with things ?? Only time will say the truth... |

Which kind of OS run and use a dual core processor ?? Amiga OS ?? I don't think that supporting SMP would be that hard to add into AOS4, until it does not need software implemented cache coherency. This is really the least worrying issue. Legal questions are more threatening, also technical problems regarding developing graphcard drivers for PCIe cards. (Which are furiously protected by all the hw companies. They'd rather do a linux driver than opening up the specs.) Anyway, first thing first: the legal battle has to be settled somehow. I am not interested in any hw which does not run AmigaOS4, probably I am not alone with this. |

In IRC it was made clear by ACK that Amiga OS 4.0 is the OS that is going to run on it. |

![]() This is av very powerful Amiga, and i look forward to see it in action. I believe there will be a very special 64-bit SMP AmigaOS, whatever form that might be..
Such an Amiga would certainly give a brand new dimension of gaming for the Amiga. Gaming no Amiga platform has ever seen before ![]() |
