Tested
@Edgar
Tested latest version, and sadly to say issues with freezes of OS in some drivers, and jerky mouse movement in other ones are still there :( There i collect all the info and bug reports i had when i tried to play with. All tests done on my x5000 with RadeonRX : 1. When installing and it ask for desired screen resolution, it have set 1024x768x16 , and i can choise nothing else, while i have all those listed modes in screenmode of workbench. I.e. i can't tick any other mode. 2. There still issue with mouse movement being jerky in some modes, and freezes of whole OS in some other modes. There is the list of modes and results of them (all tested over myx11setup + 1920x1080x16): - customscreen - freeze of OS after few seconds, but mouse movement fluid while it didn't freezes - customscreendb - mouse movement jerky, no freeze, colors ok. - customscreendb2 - mouse movement jerky, no freeze, colors ok. - cybergraphics - mouse movement fluid, no freeze, but colors are wrong. Like ARGB/RGBA swap issues, etc (probabaly because workbench itself for me 32bit?) - picasso96 - freeze of OS after few seconds, but mouse movement fluid while it didn't freezes - picasso96clonewb - mouse movement fluid, no freeze, but colors are wrong. Like ARGB/RGBA swap issues, etc (probabaly because workbench itself for me 32bit?) - picasso96clonewbdb - mouse movement VERY jerky, no freeze, colors ok. - picasso96clonewbdb2 - mouse movement jerky, no freeze, colors ok. - picasso96pip - can't launch on x5k (sure RadeonHD/RX didn't have PIP support), exit properly, so all handled correctly there. - picasso96wb - mouse movement jerky, no freeze, colors ok. - picasso96wb2 - mouse movement jerky, no freeze, colors ok. - workbench - mouse movement jerky, no freeze, colors ok. - workbench2 - mouse movement jerky, no freeze, colors ok. 3. Moving of windowses VERY slow in the cybergraphics and picasso96 drivers (where mouse movement is fluid), but more or less ok in those drivers where mouse movement jerky. So there no win-win choice between. And some suggestions if you doesn't mind: 1. Will be good to have "compositing" driver, maybe it will fix all issues with speed ? At least with speed of windows movement maybe. 2. Also 32bit support is need it of course :) |

I.e. i can't tick any other mode. This is really strange. The list of screen resolutions is static and no option is disabled in the script. Only a default mode is selected, but you should be able to select an other mode. Maybe your installer binary is the problem? Which version do you use? Quote: 2. There still issue with mouse movement being jerky in some modes, and freezes of whole OS in some other modes. There is the list of modes and results of them (all tested over myx11setup + 1920x1080x16): Some of the problems are described in the documentation in "Cygnix:Docs/Display-Driver-GB.pdf". But the point is, that I got a lot of feedback telling me, that version 1.6 has the best performance so far. Also a X5000 user with a RadeonRX told me, that it works great and he has no colour, no performance and no stability problems. All ...db... display driver and the display driver for the workbench do make massive use of the graphics function BltBitMapRastPort(). Maybe your gfx card is not well supported by the Radeon driver and has no (good) hardware acceleration with this function? I have no other idea. Also the stability problem is annoying. The old driver like "cybergraphx" and "picasso96" are very plain and simple. Maybe there is a problem with BitMap locking. But I can say, that all driver are working very stable on my system (X5000 and RadeonHD 7770). I have also good results with a RadeonHD 6450. Do you have access to an other gfx card? Would be interesting, if it works. Are you a OS4 beta tester? Maybe it collides with it. Quote: 1. Will be good to have "compositing" driver, maybe it will fix all issues with speed ? At least with speed of windows movement maybe. I also have a driver with compositing support, but it does not work well. It is not usable for AmiCygnix. Quote: 2. Also 32bit support is need it of course :) Yes, this would be fine. It is working here in parts. It has colour problems, but I can already see, that performance is lower than in 16bit. |
