Re: Sylpheed 3.0.3 for AmiCygnix released
Thanks, Edgar
But after setting up my 2 IMAP accounts, it will neither retrieve nor send messages for either. I've used the same account information which I used in Simplemail, which is able (with the occasional lock up or crash) to send and receive from both. I can't find much online about setting up IMAP on Sylpheed. Most of it seems to pertain specifically to Gmail, which is not where I have my accounts. Any insights from you or others appreciated. Re: Sylpheed 3.0.3 for AmiCygnix released
@Paul
Tested it here with a GMX account and it works fine. It also was well tested with a gmail account. What does the log say? Open the log window with the menu item "Tools/Log window". For more debug information, please launch sylpheed in an amiga shell with "sylpheed --debug". |

Re: Sylpheed 3.0.3 for AmiCygnix released
When trying to run debug from sell I get:
8.Programs:AmiCygnix/Software/Sylpheed/Sylpheed-3.0.3> sylpheed --debug (sylpheed:275): Gtk-WARNING **: cannopt open display: I opened the Sylpheed log window and tried to download all emails, and to simply get new emails. Nothing shows up in the log. For good measure, I set up Sylpheed with my Gmail account, too. It did try to run that through, but stopped with a complaint about insecure SSL. This was set up with the specific Gmail IMAP setup option. |

Re: Sylpheed 3.0.3 for AmiCygnix released
@Paul,
Oh - I forgot to say: before you can start sylpheed in a shell, you must launch the desktop before! Quote: I opened the Sylpheed log window and tried to download all emails, and to simply get new emails. Nothing shows up in the log. What kinds of account did you define? Also POP3 accounts? It is really weired, that you got no output in the log window. Quote: For good measure, I set up Sylpheed with my Gmail account, too. It did try to run that through, but stopped with a complaint about insecure SSL. This was set up with the specific Gmail IMAP setup option. That's strange as gmail / IMAP was successfully tested before. Maybe I have to add a newer OpenSSL to sylpheed. Here are some screenshots: This is what I get when I try to get new mails from a POP3 account: http://www.amicygnix.de/files/sylpheed-pop3-log.png This is what I get when I try to get new mails from an IMAP4 account: http://www.amicygnix.de/files/sylpheed-imap4-log.png The green messages (or similar) must appear, even if it fails. |

Re: Sylpheed 3.0.3 for AmiCygnix released
Hi Edgar,
Well, I took the sledge hammer approach. I deleted Sylpheed, re-downloaded it and reinstalled it. I can now access my two main IMAP accounts. The Gmail account is another story. I got a message from Google that I had tried to access Gmail with a less secure app. It directed me to choose leaving my Gmail accessible to the less secure apps, which I did from my Windoze computer. But it still won't let me access the account. This really doesn't bother me since the only reason I have Gmail is because Goggle requires it as part of owning an Android phone. BTW, I don't have any POP3 accounts to even try on Sylpheed. But it's doing what I want it to do now. Thanks for providing the program. Paul |
