For accelerated video, playback Emotion is still a premier multimedia viewer. There is still some work that needs to be done on DvPlayer to replace Emotion. For example, try to play Big_Buc_Bunny_1080.mp4. On Emotion that plays correctly. Hans aware of and made a report about:

http://www.amiga.org/developer/bugreports/view.php?id=856

Also, there is no iсonification support which today is a must:

But it is good anyway and if Hans will continue to work on it, it can be the best, yeah.

@kas1e

As you know our team releases updates often and further upgrades to DvPlayer are coming soon.

DvPlayer is a principal component of the Enhancer Software so is being integrated to be the default media player for future releases.

Congrats on the new release and to everyone involved. I have a few questions, if you don't mind.

When you say "principal component of the Enhancer Software" you are talking about the v2.x release? Because DVPlayer was not included with the latest update.

How does it work with the RadeonHD gfx cards? Is it able to play at least 720p, since the VA is not available for them?

Do you plan to add network streaming abilities to DVPlayer? If not, this is one of the needed features for me, which is already available on Emotion.

I love DVPlayer. I bought it from Stephen Fellner since the first-ever release, using it on my microAmigaOne.

I remember back then that Stephen released a demo so to be able to try this out. Do you plan to do something similar?

If this will be part of the v54 release, those who will buy it now, will have a price reduction on v54, or they will pay it twice?

 Re: dvplayer
We are not trying to “compete” with other projects. DvPlayer is progressively being updated to meet the needs of the Enhancer Software user base.

A demo maybe more problematic as users will need all of the other Enhancer Software components. OS4.1 doesn’t support Shaders, Video Acceleration, RadeonRX etc so any demo would have to have the requirements that the ES is installed first.

DVPlayer is principle part of the plan and forward vision of how the Enhancer Software V54 package will evolve. It is tightly integrated with other Enhancer Software components such as Warp3D Nova, VA lib, Radeon drivers, PCIGraphics, classes and libraries.

It is very likely that we offer a discount for ES v54 for users who have bought some previous components. That will be decided closer to release.

 Re: dvplayer
Congratulations and thanks to the A-EON team for releasing this new version of DvPlayer.

Will AmigaKit be selling compatible hardware?

Although my ancient MicroA1 runs fine, it does not meet minimum spec.

 DvPlayer
Even if not specifically declared DvPlayer 54 should have remained compatible with older hardware

 What has changed?
I find it a bit strange there is a news item saying there is a new release, without telling us why we should care about the new release. New features? Improved performance? Bug fixes?
