Software News : PowerPC wrapper available

Software News

We are pleased to announce that as of today, you can download the WarpOS wrapper library from aminet and os4depot. The library has been updated to work on the very latest AmigaOS 4 and will enable you to run WarpOS applications and play WarpOS games.

This library will open up a range of games, scene demos and applications, however, if it uses Warp3D you may have to use software 3D renderer, which should work fine on an AmigaOne. This is due to how the software was written - if it was written in a correct and system-friendly way, it should work just fine.

The Guru Meditation team in cooperation with Joerg Strohmayer

 Re: PowerPC wrapper available
It is an awesome platform! My softwares got boost several time from the time I use OS4 and no hardware has changed. There was SFS, Petunia, the new memory handling, and now this wrapper...

I love this "virtual hardware upgrade"!

Thanks Joerg, thanks Guru Meditation!

 Re: PowerPC wrapper available
Wipeout2097 still works, so I'm happy.

I can't control it with the new WarpOS wrapper though

I'm sure it's nothing to do with not having played it for several months.

I tried heretic II and worked fine with 3d support

I tried shogo and it hangs up on startup when the gui appears.. i followed the instructions but i don't understand when it says disable music... where i have to disable music ? on the tooltype icon ? or somewhere else ?

In the launcher GUI. If the GUI crashes it's probably because of missing CDDADEVICE/CDDAUNIT tooltypes, if they aren't there ShogoLauncher crashes when searching for CD drives itself.

Another possibility is an old wizard.library, they don't work on OS4, make sure you have the AmigaOS4 wizard.library installed.

 Re: PowerPC wrapper available
I have added CDDADEVICE and CDDAUNIT in the tooltype without the unit number and the device name has written in the guide.. i'll check the wizard library and report back if it works

Thanks

Try if removing the FIRSTRUN tootype helps, I guess it's only there the first time you run it and it may cause it to do something which doesn't work, for example searching for CD drives even if the CDDADEVICE and CDDAUNIT tootypes are set already.

 Re: PowerPC wrapper available
There is a problem with heretic II and the second level.. the swamps have a nice fog effect, the problem is that the fog effect makes the screen completely white and it is impossible to see...
Any idea or setup to do via console ?

 Re: PowerPC wrapper available
Sorry to drag up a (slightly) old thread, but I'm having problems getting pretty much any classic game to run on my A1... The WipEout demo crashes straight away, Payback crashes at one green bar in the first loading screen, either hardware or software mode. Earth2140 seems to run but the in-game graphics are all corrupted, and that's in both resolutions, 68k and WOS. It's a new, clean OS4 Final installation, and a shame that none of my games will work... Anyone any ideas?
