Software News : PortablE r2 released

A new version of PortablE has been released. PortablE is an AmigaE compiler, written from scratch in E, and able to compile itself. It supports Amiga OS3, OS4, AROS & MorphOS.

The main changes for this release are:
* Programs can now be compiled on an OS4 machine, thanks to support for GCC v4 & NewLib.
* Programs can now be run from Workbench, and "wbmessage" is supported.
* Shell return codes are now support, by returning a value from main().
* Added a Run Time Type Information (RTTI) system for classes.
* Fixed several bugs, including an OS4-specific one.

Amigans Defender Joined: 11/17/2006 From: England Comments: 3363	Re: PortablE r2 released I'll add to the comments, then I've been playing around with PortablE trying to port some old things of mine to OS4 (zx81utils was the first, ppmtoscr the second - they are both on Aminet/OS4Depot). It was me hassling Chris which led to most of the changes/improvements in this release. I'm ploughing through more complicated programs at the moment, which need modules that PortablE doesn't have yet, to make it all OS4 native. Hopefully some of this stuff will be useful!

I want to add basic support for Windows next, although obviously AmigaOS calls won't work. @snuffy Not sure how easy converting a program from Basic to E would be, but I've never seen SdlBasic.
