Two quickfix updates are available on the new Hyperion Entertainment web site for registered customers of AmigaOS 4.1 (for AmigaOne, SAM440ep or Pegasos II).

The elf.library fix contains an updated elf.library.kmod that fixes issues with binaries that have been compiled with the latest SDK. This is a highly recommended update.

The IDE driver update contains new versions of all IDE drivers delivered with AmigaOS 4.1. It is highly recommended for all users to install these. In particular, Pegasos II users will find that the new drivers offer a substantial performance increase.

Get them at the new download area on Hyperion Entertainment

Re: Two new QuickFix updates for AmigaOS 4.1 available
My user name and password do not seem to work with the new site !

I checked in the IBrowse password manager what they were for the previous site and I *AM* entering the correct details that worked before.

A glitch in the new system ?

Or do I need to register again with the new site ?

BTW. I much prefer the look of the older site, the new one seems to use CSS and just plonks the menus as text at the top of the page. Why use systems that do not work well on Amiga browsers ?

@BillE

You have to re-register.

From Hyperion's new website:-

[quote]Information for returning users
Account Registration

The new website uses a different system for user management and therefore you have to re-register yourself on the new site. To do this, simply click the 'create an account' button on the frontpage's "login" menu (or click this link) and complete the form. You will need to supply a valid E-Mail address, since you will get a mail send to that account for activation purposes.

Note that you do not need to use the same user name and password as you used on the old site. Consequently, the old user name and password will no longer work on this web site.

Product Registrations

The product registration has changed as well. You have two possibilities to get your registrations from the old site back:

Re-register the product via the Product Registration page. You must be logged in for that.
Go to the Product Registration page and click on the I am not seeing all of my registered products link. This will offer you to convert your registrations from the previous site. You will need to supply your user name from the old site as well as the password.[/quote

Site looks good on NetSurf and OWB (it looks slightly better on OWB, but NetSurf allows you to download files). Dare I suggest you update your browser?

It's certainly an improvement on the old site.

OWB is OK but I dislike the Reaction interface. It is not very user friendly even though it does handle CSS and things quite well.

IBrowse despite being a bit long in the tooth is very well developed GUI and user interface wise. It is also written for the Amiga and not just a port. IB is my favourite browser still on any platform.

I did try NetSurf once - it crashed so I never bothered again

I still think it is very WRONG for the main Amiga OS site to be written in a way that does not work well on the main Amiga browser.

BTW. I did find the links to reregister despite the god-awful interface and get the new updates and reregister all my software. But what a hassle, why not keep things as they were. If it ain't broke don't try to fix it.

If you don't report bugs they won't be fixed.

@Hyperion
Thanks for the updates. Install script rebooted without prompting (luckily I looked at the readmes first) but other than that all looks ok.

Didn't reboot here. I got a requester asking for system: and then nothing.

Had to reboot manually.

Considering that the "just a port" browsers like NetSurf and OWB display several hundred times more web pages correctly, and considering the work that has gone into both, I think it's a bit unfair to call them "just a port", especially since it isn't true - OWB has, as you pointed out yourself, a Reaction interface that the original didn't.

No offense, but IBrowse stopped being the main Amiga browser for me and a lot of others when OWB came along. Let's face it, there is no way around CSS support anymore, and I think is is very wrong if the main Amiga browser doesn't support it.

That's the point - it was broken. It was using Zope, and was a hassle to maintain. As a matter of fact, I had written all of the previous site myself in Python, and I just didn't feel like maintaining that monstrosity anymore, more so since Joomla is a very good alternative.

I don't really see the problem with re-registering, the link is very well accessible on a browser that supports CSS.

At first I couldn't see the quickfix updates. I wasn't going down deep enough in the folder

Downloaded but not installed yet.

Thanks.

IBrowse??? C'mon! Everybody knowsa Voyager is better!

Seriously, I hated giving up Voyager years ago. But Matt had this rift with Amiga stuff and development just stopped. I couldn't use it forever when it didn't keep up with what was being done on nearly every web site.

So I switched to AWeb. I got used to AWeb. I liked AWeb. But Andy hasn't released any updates for quite a while. So. . .

I've been using OWB for quite a while now. Netsurf is nice too, but has some display issues still.

I really question claims that IBrowse is still the main Amiga browser.

Anyway, using OWB tonight, I downloaded the Hyperion update files. They are now installed, and everything is working great on my A1 (as usual.)

Thanks Hyperion.

BTW, that teaser line about the huge project you are now working on is just mean. I wan'na know! I wan'na know NOW!

Re: Two new QuickFix updates for AmigaOS 4.1 available
As I said in a n earlier post. I see my old registered items. But they are not downloadable and the downloads page is empty. Actually the SDK, the updates for os 4 none of these are there. If I needed to download them again I would be sol. So I guess the site caters only to the latest 4.1 and not to 4.o?

I installed one and didn't get a chance to install the other and I was in countdown mode. After it reset I installed the other and again, into countdown mode.

Guess it was just that way on a SAM.
