Re: WxWidgets bounty opened.
Looks great, I'd love to see Audacity on the Amiga! Could be good for commercial apps like Audio Evolution - maybe we'll see it back on the Amiga?

Re: WxWidgets bounty opened.
If enough of wxWidgets gets ported, then yes, I'll port AE5 to OS4 again.
I think it should be well investigated (for the GUI phase anyway) if Reaction should be chosen as layer under wxWidgets. I think MUI has more classes that I might even need for AE5 and will probably make it easier to use for a broader audience (MOS, AROS, etc.). And if it runs on more AmigaOS-alikes, there are going to be more wxWidgets developers/porters. Win-win situation I'd say! |

Re: WxWidgets bounty opened.
What DaveAE said.
Need change in bounty reaction to mui, and then i will spend some money to it too. (always like when ppls think not only about one os, but about all amiga like oses (in which all amiga community will won)). |

Re: WxWidgets bounty opened.
Reaction is the default GUI for AmigaOS4 and amigabounty is a bounty site for OS4 only.
If other Amiga like systems can benefit from the hosted bounties it's fine with me (I donate for AROS too) but we're not going to change from the native default GUI to a 3rd party GUI to help the other platforms. Show me the sourcecode for MUI4 and some decent terms to get it ported and released for OS4 and I will consider changing my mind.. Until that happens I see no reason to support MUI as it's future on OS4.x seems very uncertain. |

Re: WxWidgets bounty opened.
@Troels
But what about limited classes or Reaction (which must be done by Hyperion, and when it will be done in the same way undefined (but mui already have all what it have) ? |

Re: WxWidgets bounty opened.
And thank you for setting up such a project!
It would save me a lot of time if this project comes to completion. Let's hope there will be (enough) developers who are actually willing to do the port. |

Re: WxWidgets bounty opened.
Strange that when it was 62, bounty says "need 70", now, after it 162, bounty says "need 170" :) Better set one price at one time to avoid different thinks about, or just write somethink "as much you can".

Re: WxWidgets bounty opened.
@kas1e
Hmm where does it say that? If you refer to "162.34 EUR Out of 170 EUR originally submitted." Then the first value is the amount left after paypal has taken its share and the second value is how much was actually donated before paypal took its share. |

Quote: But what about limited classes or Reaction (which must be done by Hyperion No they don't - anybody can write a Reaction (BOOPSI, actually) class. Conversely, with MUI I think I read somewhere you need to be registered to develop new classes. |

Re: WxWidgets bounty opened.
F.e. AmiSoundED uses it's own ReAction class for the waveform display/editor. This is implemented as a private class linked directly into the program but with very little work it could also be implemented as a class library similar to other BOOPSI/ReAction gadget classes.
AmiSoundED source code is on OS4Depot BTW. |

Re: WxWidgets bounty opened.
Thumbs up for this bounty!
However, I highly doubt that ReAction would be suitable as a straightforward backend for WxWidgets. Most likely it needs lots of extension via specialized subclasses and even some hacking into the OS itself. I am pretty sure it can't be done within 6 months, 1 year more likely. |

Re: WxWidgets bounty opened.
Perhaps this link can be added to the bounty page about starting a new port:
http://www.wxwidgets.org/docs/faqgen.htm#newport Basically, you can start with wxUniversal and implement native widgets along the way. Also note that wxCore is the GUI part, so that's the biggest slice. After wxBase and wxCore I would only need wxXML, which is probably something I can do myself. |

Hi Samo
I know it was written there and it was probably to optimistic. Abalaban has now been assigned to the job and the deadline has been changed again if you check amigabounty.net |

Re: WxWidgets bounty opened.
Yes just read
This is a great news, this bounty are maybe more important than Gnash too, cause it can help to bring a lot of new modern software on our platform. Well what to say more, just hope that others can follow and more important help Abalaban in this project |
