those arn't pictures you see without borders they are movies from my digital camera MP4 format playing via mplayer

Just playing a single divx here doesn't even get up to full framerate. |

I don't think they play slow, they're very low res. A G4/933 should easily play two 640x480@30fps divx movies without skipping (with DvPlayer).
